Siskiyou Seeds Permaculture Farm Tours

Welcome to Siskiyou Seeds Farm!

Farm Tours take place on our home farm Siskiyou Seeds in Williams, Oregon.

WHAT: 3.5 hour farm tours of Siskiyou Seeds Farm! This tour is being offered numerous times over the seasons, so each one will be a bit different depending upon what is happening on the farm and in the broader natural ecosystem. This intensive farm tour will showcase the various systems and design considerations to thoughtfully steward and improve water, soil, biodiversity, habitat, productivity and right livlihood.

Siskiyou Seeds is a small, certified organic family farm in the Siskiyou Mountains of SW Oregon that produces fruits, vegetables, seeds, flowers and herbs, while raising sheep, poultry and people. The farm has been designed to function as a self-contained, life regenerating organism with waste products being recycled and feeding other elements of the system. Lauded as one of the best examples of a small productive Biodynamic and Permaculture farms in the northwest by many, Siskiyou Seeds helps to mentor new farmers through internships and workshops. In 2009 we began the seed company aspect of Siskiyou Seeds. We are a bioregional, organic seed company that grows and stewards a collection of over 700 open pollinated flower, vegetable and herb seeds and is constantly breeding new varieties that we distribute nationally. Siskiyou Seeds produces about 50% of the seed at our home farm and then sources the remainder from a network of organic seed growers throughout the PNW.

Siskiyou Seeds Farm has become one of the most established Permaculture sites in N. America. Since 2000, thousands of useful, edible and medicinal and trees & shrubs have been planted across 40 acres, along with extensive earthworks and pond building, and an intensive organic seed farm and seed bank distribution hub have contributed to a blossoming of hope for regenerative resilient culture.

We will cover general permaculture design concepts including:

• Observation -> Assessment -> Design -> Evaluation
• Zone & Sectors
• Keyline Water Systems (ponds, swales and ditches)
• Soil Fertility & Animal Systems
• Cottage Industry & Vertically integrated Farm Businesses
• Mentorship & Education
• Ecological Forestry & Food Forests & Hedgerows
• Regenerative / Organic Agriculture
• Community Resilience
